The full story...

Hi!! I'm Jay, and I use they/them pronouns. I've loved games since I was young and my first console was the Gameboy Color, but I also spent a lot of time gaming on Windows 98/XP and dipping into various consoles of the time. I have been involved in the games industry since 2014, after starting a job as a QA Tester at Rockstar Lincoln.

I have worked at large and small studios, both in-person and remotely. Throughout my career, I have become highly proficent in QA testing, for single player, multiplayer, and mobile experiences, as well as testing and feedbacking proprietary QA software on the way.

I have developed skills in training staff, presenting research and designs, and knowledge management. I have advocated for LGBTQIA+ and accessibility as much as possible during my roles, including creating social channels for LGBTQIA+ to converse, and providing LGBTQIA+ guidance.

I really grew a love for improving user experiences and helping share the education I have gained throughout my time in the games industry. I have volunteered for the mentoring program LimitBreak multiple times, where I was able to give mentoring advice and training to newstarters wanting to get their foot into the industry.

During my working career, I've taken the initiative to educate myself independently. I have been working towards my undergraduate degree, with a focus on Design and IT, with The Open University. I also completed a User Experience Design & Research Diploma with The UX Design Institute in 2022. In 2024, I was privileged enough to become a Certified Accessible Player Experience Practitioner, awarded by AbleGamers Charity, via their DPAD initiative program.

By entering the freelancing market, I'm really eager to be able to help devs from around the world, with anything ranging across the QA, UX, Design and Accessibility spectrums. I'd also love to help train more newcomers to QA and those wanting to advance in their QA careers. I truly love helping others and I'm really looking forward to meeting lots of new devs and making some really cool games together. ♥️

Outside of the games industry, I am a music-enthusiast and a creative soul. My hobbies include guitar, collecting thrifted CDs and preserving media, learning Japanese language, 3D modelling and developing digital illustrative art skills. I'm pretty handy on Photoshop! I also enjoy alternative fashion and playing Pokémon Go.
