Consultation

Following their extensive experience in the games industry, Jay is available to speak, discuss, or sit in on any meetings to advise on a range of topics, including: - Video Game Quality Assurance for AAA, Publishing, Indie and Start-Up studios - Games & Web Accessibility, specialising in accessibility for AuDHD individuals - Neurodivergence from the perspective of an AuDHD individual - LGBTQIA+ guidance from the perspective of a queer individual - The experience of working in the British games industry as a neurodivergent gender minority individual

Training

Throughout their career, Jay has recognised the importance of passing knowledge onto others. Jay first started training newstarters and giving presentations at Rockstar Lincoln, and has helped fellow testers and budding game devs ever since whenever possible, including being a volunteer mentor for the LimitBreak mentoring program. During their time with The Open University, Jay was also fortunate to have a placement as a Virtual Intern, where they developed a keen interest in pedagogy and a passion for education. Jay is happy to give talks or provide 1-to-1 advice and training when it comes to QA in the industry. They are also happy to train current QA in best Accessibility and UX practices for further career development.

QA Strategy & Planning

Jay has worked on projects big and small, and lead teams of up to 30 people at a time, all the way back down to being the sole tester on a project. They understand how to fully manually test a game from early development to shipping. They understand how to best utilise a team and how to aim for realistic goals within game development. They have designed numerous test plans from scratch with fruitful results. Speak with them to discuss strategy development, test plan development, and other queries related to QA plans-of-attack.

Review & Feedback

As a games industry veteran with additional training in UX, Design and Accessibility, Jay provides a unique outlook on gaming products. Jay can provide a comprehensive review or report, feedback, and discussion sessions about your project, the goals you wish to achieve, and the message you are hoping players take away with them following your experience.

Admin

With the experience of working in the IT-focused environment of games, Jay has developed numerous admin skills and will happily provide these services for you, including but not limited to: - Ticket database management, including bug regression & vetting - Knowledge database management, including Confluence upkeep - File Restructuring and Organising, such as Google Drive management - Test Plan creation or restructuring, via Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel These skills can be contracted on a weekly or monthly basis.
